Rice of God: Building Trust with Blockchain, Connecting Taiwan to the World
At OwlTing, we believe blockchain isn’t just about finance — it’s a tool to uplift communities, protect authenticity, and connect local value with global trust. In the rural town of Chishang in eastern Taiwan, farmer Wei Jui-Ting returned home to help his aging parents cultivate rice. Through a partnership with OwlTing, he pioneered Taiwan’s first blockchain-certified organic rice, using OwlTing Blockchain Services™ to record every step of cultivation — from microclimate data to daily field conditions — on an immutable ledger. With a simple QR code scan, consumers could access the rice’s full origin story, bringing transparency from farm to table. During the pandemic, Wei donated his harvest to local convents and to the Vatican. The rice was received by Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, who then shared it with Pope Francis. Grown with care and documented with trust, this rice became known as the “Rice of God” — a symbol of Taiwan’s spirit and compassion in the midst of a global crisis.

Protecting Forests with Blockchain: A Global First in Timber Traceability
In collaboration with Taiwan’s Forestry Bureau, Council of Agriculture, OwlTing Blockchain Services™ developed the world’s first blockchain-based traceability system for timber and forest products. Launched in December 2019, the Taiwan Forest Products Traceability System leverages blockchain’s core strengths — immutability, transparency, and decentralization — to record every stage of the wood production lifecycle. From harvesting to processing, each step is secured on-chain, ensuring tamper-proof records that are easily verifiable. By providing a trusted digital history for each certified timber product, the system not only strengthens ethical supply chains but also positions Taiwan as a global leader in forest governance innovation.
